Hastings, Nebraska Considers Breed-Specific Ordinance for “Pit Bulls”

From NBC KHAS channel 5 news:
“Hastings City Council is expected to hear from a man Monday night who says pit bulls need to be banned. The man told News 5 he was attacked and injured by a pit bull.
The Heartland Pet Connection in Hastings said pit bull attacks are not rare.
It said the dog’s aggressive instinct is due to hundreds of years of bad breeding and poor environments.
But officials with the Pet Connection said there are an equal amount of well-behaved pit bulls.”

Please contact the Hastings Mayor and City Council and politely inform them that breed-specific ordinances are ineffective and unenforceable.

I am moving to Hastings Ne with my 14 month old son and my 7 month old pit mix. I was wondering what exactly I’m going to have to do in order to keep my dog. Not all pit bulls are bad. Cocker Spaniels are the dogs that bite the most often. My son pulls and tugs and rolls on my dog and I am just needing information on how I am going to be able to keep my dog. Any help is helpful.

You might want to consider either calling Animal Control in Hastings or trying to look up their animal ordinances online if they’re online to see what all is required of you, if anything.
