[...] And so it would seem that animal rights (AR) groups have stirred the pot in Texas now after having swept the nation with their rights-negating BSL and mandatory microchipping/spay/neuter legislation. But perhaps AR groups are getting sloppy since as this Houston Chronicle article clearly shows the dangerous dog pictured, which killed a little boy, is not a bully breed even though the article insinuates that it is and then follows that assertion with an editorial calling for a ban (And here’s the animal rights rhetoric/mythology about “pitbulls” which the Houston Chronicle seems more than willing to disperse as truth: “It is true that pit bulls can be loving pets. But they also are unpredictable and more deadly than other dogs when they do attack. Bred to fight, they do not snarl or growl in warning. They attack to kill and have a high tolerance for pain, which makes it almost impossible to beat off an attacking dog.” These are all urban myths created by gang-bangers and braggarts which animal rights groups have picked up on and are now disseminating to politicians and the media who either don’t know the truth, or know but lie anyway.) The dog in question appears to be a Labrador/shepherd mix. Any breed fancier can tell you the dog pictured is not a bully but in saying the dog pictured is a “pitbull” the media is trying to work the public into a frenzy and push through politicians’ rights-negating breed ban ordinances.
[...] If so, you can start by fighting this horrific ordinance. If you live in Louisville, find your councilman or woman by clicking here. And even if you don’t live in Louisville, let them know what you think of this ordinance and its negation of so many of our constitutional rights (find out which amendments of the constitution are being negated by clicking here for breed-specific legislation and here for mandatory microchipping and strictured spay/neuter) by sending your respectful letters here (and just so you know before you vote tomorrow, Neville Blackmore, candidate for Louisville Metro Council 7 is for breed-specific legislation).
